Our
Vets
Full
time vets:
We have
three full time vets at Moorcroft.
Graham Horth BVMed MRCVS
Graham is the principle of
the practice. He graduated from Edinburgh University in
1980 and
has a wonderful manner with both clients and patients
and is well loved by all. A gentle and skilled man he
works hard and is very well respected by his staff and
clients.
His partner, their cats, garden and
allotment keep him happily busy
outside of work. Graham is also a keen swimmer and loves
a good Dorset countryside walk.
Anthony Sargent
M.Phil.,BVMS MRCVS
Anthony has been with
Moorcroft since 2005 having locumed here for the year or
so before. He graduated from Glasgow University in 1970
and has had a vast and varied career ranging from
research into wildlife diseases, to 20 years running his
own Dorset mixed veterinary practice. He has a wonderful
enthusiasm for his chosen profession, with a particular
passion for orthopaedic surgery.
In his own time Anthony is
a very keen equestrian competing regularly with his arab
horse, Puchino, at his chosen sport of endurance riding.
Judith Summers BAVetMed
MRCVS
Jude is
currently covering for Yasemin during her maternity
leave, but may well become our third full time vet long
term.
Judith graduated from
Cambridge university in 1998 and has worked across the
country in small animal practice ever since. She loves
the variety a veterinary career has given her. In her
own time she and her partner are keen climbers and so
are looking forward to a summer at Moorcroft with
Portland on the doorstep for playtime!
Yasemin Beckram BVSc MRCVS
Yasemin
is currently on maternity leave. She hopes to rejoin the
practice in the autumn in a part time role.
Graduating from Liverpool
University in 2002, Yasemin spent the first 3 years of
her career nearby in Beaminster working in mixed
practice before moving to Moorcroft in 2005. She loves
her job, enjoying meeting clients and patients,
listening to their problems and working to fix them.
Surgery is her other key skill area, which she finds
extremely rewarding. She is also responsible for this
website, with a bit of help from her husband!
Home is Chickerell with her
hubby
and surrogate children Meg, a middle aged German
Shorthaired Pointer, and Tink, her young
cocker spaniel. They are due to be joined by a human
addition any time mid April, we'll keep you posted...
The great outdoors is her passion,
walking the Dorset countryside, climbing, surfing and
cycling whenever possible.
Our part
time/ locum vets:
Moorcroft
has one regular part time vet, Mark, who covers a Monday
afternoon and operates for us on a Thursday morning.
We also
require vets to stand in for our full time vets when
they are off on holiday. Termed in the profession 'locum
vets', we like to try to use the same proven people when
we can. This hopefully provides better continuity
of care for you and peace of mind for us.
Mark
Bennett BVSc MRCVS
Mark
retired from his own full time practice a couple of
years ago. Since then he has been keeping himself busy
with a few regular part time veterinary jobs and is a
keen rower and cyclist. He is a lovely jovial fellow and
well liked by all.
Tim Phillips BVSc MRCVS
Tim is our favourite locum.
He retired from running his own practice in Bournemouth
and moved to Devon but still regularly comes back to us
to provide holiday cover. He is very well liked and
respected by staff and patients alike.
